It's 2015, and time is ticking. Here in my middle-age, I feel a certain delicious pressure to get stuff done. Thanks to the skort365 project, priorities are more clear. I have definitely internalized the act of caring less what others think of me (especially what they think of my outfit).
I appreciate a product like Athleta's Drifter tight, which keeps me (relatively) warm on winter nights and gives me a kick-ass place to store my phone.
Ahh, Athleta. If you believe the slick adverts and the (surprisingly surly) sales clerks, this company owns the market on smart, functional, stylish athletic wear. My experience tells me this is not always the case. Athleta sportswear must be approached with caution. Some of their stuff is great, but on my nine-month list of Best Skorts, Athleta falls remarkably short.
However. These tights.
These tights, which my darling mother gave me for Christmas, are the bomb, yo.
When you're wearing a skort full-time (as I am) and the temperature drops (as it will), how to keep one's legs warm becomes important. The good news is this: layers are a brilliant thing! My current collection of tights (foot-less and foot-ed), over-the knee socks (adorable, BTW!), leg warmers, snow-pants and hard-leather Ugg boots (purple and darling!) keeps me comfy and cozy for both holiday parties and late-night sledding excursions.
Athleta's Drifter tight plays a most delightful role in the pageant of my winter wardrobe. This tight is warm and flattering--just as the catalog blurb promises, it really does hug the right curves and keep the right stuff in place--and comfortable enough to sleep in. The best feature, however, is those gorgeous pockets stitched into the thigh panels.
The pure function of these pockets--so smart, one on each leg!--makes me consider living in a year-long cold climate. The pockets in these tights almost eliminates my need for a cumbersome handbag.
That's right, Ladies: in these humble (cozy! comfy! warm!) leggings, I can stash my iPhone on my right thigh, like a wild-west gun-slinger ready for action, while my left femur bears my glasses, credit card and license. ALL covered--for modesty and professionalism--by my fabulous black skort.
FREEDOM, Girls. Consider the possibilities. The contents of my billfold are zipped safely in my undergarments. My hands, therefore, are free to do any number of fun productive and important things. It's 2015: what do YOU long to do? Give yourself the gift of awesome pockets and get to it! Happy New Year.
